EducationI graduated for Hennessey High School in 1984 and went to college my first year at Central State University, which was later changed to University of Central Oklahoma. I transferred to oklahoma State university and graduated there in 1988 with a BS in Elementary Education(1-8). In the Fall of 2008, I started my masters program in Library Media Specialist. I graduated from the university of Central Oklahoma in December 2010 with a masters in Library Media Specialist (pre-K - 12).
ExperienceAfter I graduated from Oklahoma State University in December of 1988, I substitute taught at schools in Enid and Hennessey. In 1989 Hennessey put me on contract as a full time substitute teacher. I received my first teaching job in August of 1990 from Dover Public Schools. I was hired to be 5/7 of a day elementary music teacher. I taught music for 2 years until they had a Reduction in Force(RIF), I then was hired as the Chapter 1 teacher, which is now know as the Title 1. I taught Title 1 for 10 years until I was hired to teach Elementary computers Pre-k through 8th grades. I taught Elementary computers from 2002-2007. In August of 2007 I was hired to be the 4th grade teacher and taught that for a year. In August of 2008 I got the opportunity to move to the library at the High school and Elementary School. When I took over the job of librarian I also got the privilege of serving as test coordinator, technology assistant, and Title 3 director. I continue to be the librarian at both schools, technology assistant, testing coordinator,5th & 6th Science, and Title 3 director.
Bio
I have been at Dover Public Schools since August 1990. I have held a variety of teaching positions since being here. I started out in 1990 as the elementary music teacher . i held that position until 1992 when had a RIF and did away with the music classes. I then took over the Title 1 job and held that position for 10 years. I then moved to the job of elementary computer teacher, I held that position for 5 years and then I took the position of 4th grade teacher for a year. Then I was given the opportunity to become the HS and ES librarian, testing coordinator, technology assistant, and Title 3 director.
I live in Hennessey and have 3 daughters, which have all attended Dover Public Schools. Jennifer is in her 4th year at OSU majoring in Mechanical Engineering, Emma is in Pharmacy School at SWOSU, and Jeri is a Junior at Hennessey High School.
In my free time when I am not working for Dover Public schools, I work also as a certified pharmacy technician at Walgreens in Enid. I have worked for Walgreens since March of 2007. I can also be found at the softball field when softball is in season.
